June Book Club

We had a fun time this month as we went out to dinner at Iggy's restaurant and chatted with each other. It was also fun to catch a movie after for those of us that could stay. I was really glad to be able to see all of you again and catch up since I've moved and also with all the changes to the ward boundaries and everything. Thanks everyone for sharing and caring.

In June we will be discussing "Saints" by Orson Scott Card.
This should be and interesting discussion.
Annette will be leading the discussion.

Anybody for a Chick Flick after Dinner?

I was talking to Annette today and we found that She's Just Not That Into You (remember talking about her book submission last month?--this is the movie from the book she listened to) is playing at the cheap ($1.50) theater in Sandy (not TOO far from where we're having dinner). So. . .we'd like to leave my house in two cars (one for those who'd like to go to the movie after and one for those who can't join us). Annette volunteered to drive the movie-goers. We'll probably be leaving my house close to 6:20. If there's a volunteer for those who can't join us, please let us know or come prepared to drive. Thanks!! I'm excited to have a fun Girl's Night Out tomorrow night. I hope you can all join us! :) ---Angela

THIS Thursday Book Club Dinner

If it's alright with everyone, we've decided to go to an Italian place near Jordan Landing instead of the one downtown. It's called Bella Dolci at 6973 S 4800 West. You can see their website at http://belladolci.blogspot.com/. We'll meet at Angela's house at 6:00 pm to carpool. If you can't make it there you can meet us at the restaurant at about 6:30 pm. We hope you all can come. Please leave a comment or reply to all in email if you are coming and/or can drive so we don't leave anyone behind. I have two coupons if anyone is interested in sharing them with me. It's a buy one get one free coupon one for dinner and one for gelato.

Next month we will be discussing Saints by Orson Scott Card. It's 604 pgs in the version I have so be prepared. We'll discuss final date and place at the dinner on Thursday.

Thursday, May 14 Girl's Night Out!

It looks like the majority of us wanted to do dinner, so let's plan on meeting at my house (Angela's) at 6PM and go from there. We can go in my little van or if someone else wants to drive a more comfortable vehicle, I'm happy with that too! In fact, if we have a volunteer to drive, let me know. Then I won't have to pull out 4 car seats and vacuum right before we leave! :)

By the way, I didn't mean to post this quite yet--still working on details, but it looks like I accidently hit the wrong button. Sorry. More to come later. . . .

April to May

April book club was a lot of fun. We got started late, but it was a good night for all. We missed those of you who were unable to come. There were a number of books that people brought and we had a very good discussion of them. A list of the books will be at the bottom of this posting.

We discussed the future of the book club and made a change to our book club schedule. We've decided that we will have an open forum every three months, we will have an activity every three months and we will have a normal book club every three months. From the open forum we will choose a book to discuss, the following month we will have an activity and then have the discussion of the book the month following the activity, this will give us time to get the book and read it before discussing it. I think that this will make for a fun and exciting schedule for our book club.

We will be starting this new schedule immediately. Since we had our open forum this month, in May we will have an activity, then in June we will discuss the book we chose this month which is Saints by Orson Scott Card.

May 14th we will be going to Settebello, an Italian restaurant downtown about 260 S 200 W, for our activity. We neglected to discuss a time for this activity. There are a couple options; we could meet at 6:00 pm and go to dinner, or we could meet at 7:30 pm and go for dessert. What would be your preference?
