Book for February

February's book club night is quickly approaching. It will be on Thursday, February 5th at 7:30 pm at Margaret's house. We will be discussing Papa Married a Mormon by John D. Fitzgerald. Jessica has a book to lend and Angela will have one again in another week when Jen is done with it. Contact them if you want to read it.

Last month we had a different, yet interesting and fun book club. We each brought a book we liked and a book we didn’t like. We shared these with the group and described why we did or didn’t like them. It turned out to be quite a lively discussion. We each felt that we had found books that we would like to read and/or avoid in the future. I think everyone felt that we would like to do this again. Maybe we could do this twice a year? What do you all think?

Anyway, from this forum we chose a book to read for March. It is a book that Traci brought called Puddin’head Wilson by Mark Twain

Book Club This Thursday

Book Club is this Thursday January 8th, 7:30 at Sheri Lee's house.

We will be having an Open Forum night

This is where you each bring one book you have read that you liked and one book you have read that you didn't like (or didn't like as much) and tell everyone why you liked or didn't like the books. It should make for an interesting discussion and can give good ideas for books to read or avoid. Kind of like a submission, but with only 2 books per person.

If there is time after our discussion we will play games. Hope to see you all there.

Remember the book for next month is Papa Married a Mormon.

Great Christmas Party & Changes

We had a wonderful time at our Christmas Party and we are grateful to all that participated and brought food and books to share. Thanks to Jessica for hosting for us. We also enjoyed playing games and chatting afterwards. We discussed making a few changes for this coming year. We'd love all of your feedback on the changes that were made.

First off, I found a way to email all of you when the blog is updated. (I'm doing this to see if it works) This way we can make sure to check it when something new has been posted. Always on the side of the blog is listed where each month's bookclub will be held for the next 6 months (not set in stone). Also noted on the side will be listed the book we will be reading for the upcoming month.

Next, the night of book club has been changed to the FIRST THURSDAY of each month, except in January when we'll be holding book club on January 8th.

Another thing is that we are going to try an open discussion about once a quarter. Annette suggested it and I hope I'm getting the gist of it across right. We will all bring a book or books we have read or are reading and share our feelings about the books with each other. It will give us more variety and increase our knowledge of other books. Post a comment if this is not right Annette. We will be trying this for the January book club so that we will have more time to circulated the next book we are reading "Papa Married A Mormon".

Jessica will also be helping to update this blog so that we will all know what is going on as I will be moving sometime this month and I don't always have internet access. You all are able to update this as well if you all have anything to add.
